Jammu, Mar 16: Indian and Pakistani troops on Saturday once again traded fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, officials said.

“The mortar shelling and small arms firing from across the border started in Mankote sector around 1.30 pm, prompting effective retaliation by the Indian Army,” a defence spokesman said.

The spokesman said there was no report of any casualty on this side in the cross-border firing which was still continuing when last reports were received.

The border skirmishes between the two sides have witnessed a spurt in recent weeks.
