Prior to foundation there were some controversies regarding the land which were sorted out by district administration amicably.

“Zainapora village comes at the centre of District and caters to almost 153 villages of District so establishment of college will be beneficial not only to the students of Shopian District but also to Pulwama and Anantnag Districts”,  locals said.

One of the residents, Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat said that students from their area and adjacent areas of Zainapora Tehsil are facing immense problems while travelling to Degree College Shopian which is almost 25 kms away from their area.

“It’s a better initiative that was taken by district administration and in future students from tail end of District Shopian can have easy access to this college,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner Shopian said that now that the foundation for the college has been laid, administration will ensure speedy construction so it is completed as soon as possible.
