Ganderbal, 05 Mar: A Journalist working with ETV Bahrat was allegedly assaulted by a group of persons when he was covering an anti-encroachment drive in Kangan Gandebal along Nallah Sindh.
The Journalist, Irshad Biag, said: “I was performing my professional duty as authorities were carrying out an anti-encroachment drive along Nallah Sindh in Kangan and in the meantime a group of persons assaulted me.”
“It was a clear act of vengeance because I have been reporting about illegal constructions along Nallah Sindh.”
When contacted SDPO Kangan said, “We have received the complaint. Strict action will be taken against the persons involved in the act.”
Meanwhile, Civil Society Kangan, Ganderbal Journalists Association has condemned the incident and demanded strong action against the persons involved in the incident.
