Shopian, Feb 19: The residents of Baba mohalla in Shopian town have asked the officials of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Exchange Shopian to provide them with landline phone facility.

According to locals, they have approached the concerned department several times requesting them to lay the wire for landline connections in their area. “The wire for landline has to be laid down for a stretch of 1 km only but the BSNL officials have been saying that there is non-availability of wires and other equipments necessary for installing landline connections in our area,” they added.

One of the residents of Baba mohalla, Aijaz Ahmad, said: “Whenever mobile phone facility gets disrupted in our district, it makes the businessmen to suffer a lot as they are unable to make online transactions. As landline phones and its broadband service remain functional always, it will surely mitigate the sufferings of businessmen,” he added.

When contacted Junior Telecom officer BSNL Shopian said: “I will visit the said area in coming days and will also contact BSNL office Pulwama to make the availability of landline wire for the said area.”
