Srinagar, Feb 14: Condemning the attack on CRPF convoy, Governor Satya Pal Malik has directed immediate enhancement of surveillance and review of the security management of all important installations and establishments in the state.

He also said such attacks will not deter the resolve of our government forces and people.

The Governor strongly condemned the attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Pulwama, in which at least 44 personnel were killed and many injured.

He urged all the forces’ commanders to enhance surveillance on every front and directed the district and divisional civil and police administration to immediately review the security management of all important installations and establishments, an official spokesperson said.

Malik also conveyed his grief and sincere sympathy to the families of the soldiers, who lost their lives in the attack, and prayed for an early recovery of the injured, he added.

Expressing serious concern on the attack, the Governor observed that the forces responsible for insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir are desperate and frustrated and just want to prove their presence.

“Visibly, it seems to be guided from across the border as Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed the responsibility,” the Governor said.

He added that “such actions will not deter the resolve of our security forces and people, and we will finish these inimical forces to the last.”

An official spokesman said that Governor will be visiting Srinagar on Friday to pay homage to slain security forces personnel.

Former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, and Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone also condemned the attack.

“Terrible news coming from the valley. A number of CRPF soldiers are reported to have been killed & injured in an IED blast. I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. My prayers for the injured & condolences to the families of the bereaved,” Abdullah tweeted.

The vehicle was blown up on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in the district’s Awantipora area.

“Disturbing news coming in from Awantipura,” Mehbooba Mufti said adding “our security personnel have been martyred and several have been injured. No words are enough to condemn the gruesome terror attack. How many more lives will be snuffed out before this madness ends?”

“Strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on CRPF convoy in Lethpora today. Deeply disturbed by this senseless act of violence. My heart goes out for the families of soldiers killed in the attack and pray for speedy recovery of the injured soldiers,”Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone said.

Several other mainstream politicians took to social media to condemn the attack.

“Very sad news coming from Lethpora, any form of killing must be condemned by one and all,” People’s Conference leader Imran Ansari said.
