After administering oath, Justice Bindal highlighted the need of maintaining highest standards of professional ethics and conduct for the Advocates.

“Legal education does not stop when you join the profession. Law is a profession that demands constant learning. New laws are being passed with regularity which was not the case before”, Justice Bindal told the participants.

He said the success of a lawyer depends on what he learns through experience in practice, research and interaction with colleagues and Judges rather than on what he already knows. He observed that compared to the years gone by, most of the lawyers are now entering the profession with more education and technological skills. “Some of them have post graduate degrees, others are professionals in their own right in other fields” he added.

He expressed the hope that these extra competencies and capabilities would assist the new entrants in coping with the fast-changing legal landscape.

Justice Bindal stressed upon the Advocates to catch up with the technology and to use ICT in their professional management.

Enrollment Certificates issued by Jammu and Kashmir High Court, in exercise of powers of State Bar Council, were distributed among 250 newly enrolled Advocates belonging to Jammu Province.

Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, Rajeev Gupta, Director J&K State Judicial Academy and Himanshu Sharma Joint Secretary, Representative of Bar Association Jammu were present at the function.
