Srinagar, Dec 30: Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a horrifying year in terms of human rights as the hill and dale of the state got painted red with human blood, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Monday termed the year 2018 as “Red-18”.

In a statement here following the meeting of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik at Geelani’s Hyderpora residence, JRL said every street, every slope, busy markets, open fields or even long and torturous borders were painted red with the blood of humans.

“Be it of armed youth, common people, government informers, political workers, freedom lovers, policemen or even Indian armed forces, everybody’s blood is red and whenever it is spilled, humanity ceases to exist,” JRL statement said.

It said every nation at the end of the year proudly announces its achievements in various fields, sets new targets for the coming year and compares their previous shortcomings to ensure better quality of life in future, “but our oppressed nation is forced to keep the count of our dead, keep the record of death and destruction around us.”

The separatist trio once again condemned the unfortunate incident of desecration of pulpit of Jama Masjid Srinagar and said that these mischievous actions cannot be tolerated and people should be cautious and conscious about such disrespectful events.

They announced January 04, 2019 as “Youm-ul-Taqadus” and urge the people to converge on Srinagar’s Jama Masjid to offer congregational Friday prayers there.
