Expresses dismay over faulty power supplies

Srinagar, Dec 20:  Former Minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar on Thursday visited various areas of Ganderbal assembly segment wherein people appraised him about the hardships they have been facing due to the absence of basic amenities at present.

While meeting scores of public delegations, the issue of erratic power supplies was brought to Akhtar’s notice and people complained that they don’t get electricity for days amid the present harsh winter.

Akhtar urged upon the administration to resolve the power crises on priority as same is not only hitting the common people but also the student community at large.

The former minister also visited various areas of Ganderbal including Lar, Shalbugh and adjoining hamlets.

Akhtar termed the snail’s pace of work going on over the widening of road from Pandach to main Ganderbal town as worrisome and asked the government to expedite it by completing the formalities related to land acquisition and sanctioning funds for the purpose.

He also took stock of the construction work of Pubic Heath Centre at Shalabugh and underscored the need of shifting of the project from district sector to state sector so that the work on the project is speeded up. He says the administration must not debilitate the ongoing work as Shalbugh is a large area and the basic needs of its inhabitants cannot be left unattended.

He further said that the construction of Shalbugh Bridge was proposed under CRF by the PDP led government in the state and was endorsed by former state Governor NN Vohra.  He urged upon the administration to accord sanction of the project as people in the area have been eagerly waiting for it since long and the bridge can connect fragmented segments of Shalbugh with each other.
