Shopian: No cash in Chitragam Kalan ATM, officials cite security reasons

Shopian, Dec 04:  Residents of Chitragam Kalan in south Kashmir’s Shopian district complained that Automated Teller Machine (ATM) counter of Jammu and Kashmir Bank located in their village sans cash and thereby causing inconvenience to people here.

The residents of Chitragam Kalan told Kashmir Images that they are being compelled to withdraw cash from ATM’s of other areas or have to wait in large queues outside Khidmat Centre for the same as the only ATM available in their village is lying dysfunctional.

One of the residents of said village, Nadeem Ahmad, said that they have to travel almost 5 Kms to withdraw cash from the ATM’s of other areas.

When contacted branch head Jammu and Kashmir bank Chitragam, Muzammil Ahmad, said: “We are not receiving cash from currency chest due to security reasons as a cash van was attacked in the area.”

“It is not the problem with the ATM in Chitragam Kalan only but the ATM’s located in Turkwangam, Nagbal, Trenz are also not being loaded with cash due to security concerns,” he added.
