JAMMU, DECEMBER 04: Secretary, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) and DMRRR, Farooq Ahmad Shah today said that Governor’s administration is committed to provide safe drinking water facilities to every household of the State for which all languishing PHE projects would be completed well in time.

The Secretary was speaking at a meeting convened to review the progress on languishing projects of Public Health Engineering and Irrigation & Flood Control in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts.

District wise review of the status of languishing projects and other related schemes including Water Supply Schemes was taken during the meeting.

The Secretary was briefed about the progress with regard to various languishing projects in the three districts.  It was informed that 19 languishing projects of PHE have been approved at a cost of Rs.24.16 crore in Doda of which 9 are expected to be completed by March 2019 and remaining in next financial year. It was further informed that 403 hand pumps out of 526 are functional in the district.

Similarly, 18 languishing projects of PHE at a cost of Rs.25.41 crore have been approved in Kishtwar of which 4 projects will be completed by March 2019 and remaining in next year. Around 340 hand pumps out of 431 are functional in the district, the meeting was told.

Likewise, in Ramban Rs 82.24 crore were provided for 35 PHE languishing projects of  which 9 are likely to be completed by March 2019 and remaining  in next year. The district has 378 functional hand pumps providing drinking water to the people.

It was apprised that 40 hand pumps each, involving a cost of Rs 3 crore, will be installed in these districts by ending January 2019.

The Secretary stressed on timeline completion of all languishing projects. He   asked for judicious use of resources and transparency in the execution of the projects.

Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other officers of the department attended the meeting.
