A case under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated, he said.

During the course of investigation, he said, eyewitnesses confirmed the vehicle was a white colored 207 Tata mobile.

During the further investigations, Police Station Soura also scanned the CCTV footages retrieved from the private sources near the site of the incident, he said.

“After an in-depth investigation, police was successful in locating the driver. The accused has been identified as Mehraj-ud-din Shalbaf of Umerhair Buchpora and vehicle registered as JK01M 2575,” he said.

He added police has taken the accused into custody for further investigation.
