Baramulla, Nov 23: Terming the killing of six militants, including a Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Azad Malik in a gunfight in south Kashmir a “surgical operation and a big achievement for security agencies”, General Officer Commanding 15 Corps AK Bhat on Friday said that the operation was very prompt and very precise.

“It was a successful operation and forces didn’t suffer any damage in the operation,” said GoC A K Bhat while speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function organised on the occasion of Gurpurab at 46 RR camp in Baramulla.

Replying a query about the pictures of militants in Lal Chowk Srinagar last evening going viral, the GoC said it is being investigated by police “weather it is photo-shopped or real”.

“Our job is to neutralize militants wherever they are. So far the situation is normal in north Kashmir as compared to south Kashmir all with the help and cooperation of people of north,” he added.

The Army commander also said that in last 12 months more than 200 militants were killed in different encounters.

He also said that arrest of “women over ground workers” is worrisome – “it is not proper to involve women in conflict”.
