Civilian injured in firing near Army camp in Budgam
Army says militants did it; local accuse amy naka for opening fire
Srinagar, Nov 23: A civilian was injured in firing near an Army camp in Budgam district of central Kashmir on Friday.
Ishfaq Ahmad Ganaie of Magraypora was injured in the firing near the camp of the Army's 50 Rashtriya Rifles in the Chattergam area, a police official said.
Residents alleged that the Army opened unprovoked fire, injuring Ganaie. They said troops had laid an ambush near Zinipora crossing. “They opened fire at Ganaie when he was passing the ambush area on his motorbike,” locals said.
An Army official, however, denied the allegation and said troops did not open fire.
“The civilian might have been a victim of militancy-related violence,” PTI quoted an Army official as saying.
The injured civilian has been rushed to a hospital here in critical condition, the police official said.
