Union Tourism Secretary reviews projects under PMDP

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 19: Union Tourism Secretary, Rashmi Verma, today convened a meeting with the senior officers of the State Government to review the progress of various projects sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir under PMDP.

The Union Secretary expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress on all prestigious projects being executed in the state and expressed hope that these would be completed in a time bound manner. She asked the concerned to focus on projects which have greater role and scope in promotion of tourism sector.

She also reviewed the presentations prepared by various Consultant agencies in respect of different proposed projects under PMDP-II.   These projects will play a vital role in further raising the tourist influx in the State.

The Union Secretary also reviewed the status of implementation of projects sanctioned for the State under PRASAD.

Stressing the need for constant monitoring of projects at the state level, Secretary called for flagging each project, clearing bottlenecks, if any with coordinated approach by each department or agency to achieve tangible results. She said the PMDP is envisaged to be implemented in time span of five years and asked the officers to give utmost attention to each on-going project and sanctioning all proposed projects under the programme so that the constant flow of funds is maintained by the Centre.

Among others the meeting was attend by Suman Billa, Union Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Rigzian Sampheal, Secretary Tourism J&K, Om Prakash Bhagat, Director Tourism, Jammu, Parvaiz Sajjad Kakroo, Director, Planning, Tourism Department, R.K. Katoch, Managing Director, J&K Housing Board, Shamim Ahmed Wani, Managing Director, J&K Cable Car Corporation, Javid Bakshi, Director, SKICC, General Manager, NPCC/NBCC, Garima Kapoor, Asstt. Director Tourism GOI, Chief Executive Officers of various Tourism Development Authorities, and   consultants from various agencies.
