Umar Kakroo declared President, Abid Salaam as Vice President of Baramulla MC

Baramulla: Despite political tussle between Congress and BJP over election of president and vice president for Municipal Council Baramulla, authorities formally declared Congress party’s Umar Kakroo as President of MC Baramulla and Abid Salaam an independent candidate as Vice President after election for president and vice were held in Sherwani Hall Baramulla on Saturday.

Though Congress have won 10 seats and its candidates had already selected Umer Kakroo as President, BJP which has 8 seats demanded elections for the presidential post.

The election for President and vice President was held today in which total number of 19 votes were cast. Congress won with 11 votes while as BJP bagged 8.

He would be youngest chairman of MCB Baramulla. Omer is son of the senior congress workers Jaan Azhar Kakro who was assassinated.

The winning candidates while talking to media promised to work for the development of town and make MCB a corruption free institution.

They expressed their gratitude to the voters and people of the town for their vote and support.
