DDC Ganderbal reviews post-snow preparedness

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 05: In view of the prevailing weather condition in the valley, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal Dr. Piyush Singla reviewed post snow preparedness at a joint meeting of the officers of district administration and Engineers here today.

Taking stock of snow clearance from the roads of the district, the concerned officials informed the meeting that all roads of the district are open and traffic is plying normally.

The DDC asked the R&B, Mechanical, PMGSY departments to divide in between road lengths in different areas of the district for snow clearance operations so that a smooth and hassle-free mechanism is put in place for this purpose during snowfall.

The Executive Officer Municipal Committee Ganderbal informed that Municipal Committee is fully prepared to meet any exigencies. He was asked to clear snow from Lanes and Drains in the town.

DDC called for giving regular updates on the restoration of essential services to the already setup centralized Control Room so that the people don’t face any inconvenience in the district.

He asked for keeping a maximum number of snow clearance machines in a state of readiness at important points.

The DDC asked the CMO Ganderbal to ensure punctuality of medical and paramedical staff in health centers of the district.

While taking stock of restoration of power transmission lines, Exen PDD said that the restoration work is in full swing and esured that electricity is restored in the district in time bound manner.  DDC asked the engineers of PDD to ensure 100% repairing of power transmission lines at an earliest so that power supply to the consumers is provided as per curtailment schedule.

In view of the ongoing Board Examinations, Dr. Singla asked the CEO Ganderbal to make adequate heating and lighting arrangements at the examination centres. He also called for the deployment of enough dewatering pumps to ensure speedy dewatering of the inundated areas if any. He said the PHE Department should ensure that there is no disruption in drinking water supply.

The DDC impressed upon the concerned to remain available to people for early redressal of public grievances and stay at Headquarters for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations and the essential services are delivered to the people well on time.

Later, DDC along with SSP Ganderbal visited Sonamarg and its adjacent areas to take a first-hand appraisal of arrangements put in place to deal with challenges from the prevailing weather situation.

The meeting was attended by CMO Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, Exen R&B/PHE/I&FC/PDD/PMGSY, EO Municipality, Dy SP Traffic Ganderbal and other concerned officials.
