BJP leader, brother killed in Kishtwar

Kishtwar: A top BJP leader and his brother were shot dead by suspected militants in Kishtwar town, Thursday evening, police said.

Sources said that senior BJP leader, Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar were returning from their shop in Kishtwar when some unidentified gunmen fired at them near Tappal Gali, Veterinary Hospital Kishtwar around 9.10 PM.

Anil Parihar, sources said, was secretary of state BJP.

The entire area was gripped in tension following the killings. The state administration has ordered curfew in the area.

Reports said that Parihar brothers were running stationary shop in Kishtwar town. And after closing their shop, they were returning home when they were attacked.

“As soon as the brothers reached Tappal Gali, some unknown militants opened fire and killed both of them,” said locals, adding, the entire area is tense.

CURFEW IMPOSED

Kishtwar: Following the killing of two BJP leaders, the state government has imposed curfew in the town.

Sources said that following the killings, the situation was very volatile given the communal complications of the area and therefore, the state authorities imposed curfew as a precautionary measure.
