Jammu, Oct 16: Ahead of the bi-annual ‘Darbar Move’, senior police officers reviewed security arrangements in winter capital Jammu and asked personnel to maintain the highest level of alertness and coordination to scuttle nefarious designs of anti-national elements.

The Civil Secretariat, Raj Bhawan and other major offices alternate between the two capitals every six months, functioning from Srinagar in the summer months and from Jammu in winter, as part of a autocratic era practice called the “Darbar Move”.

The move offices are scheduled to close in Srinagar on October 26 and reopen here on November 05.

Inspector General of Police (Security) Alok Kumar held a joint meeting of senior officers of police, security and civil administration here to discuss the security arrangements for a smooth and incident-free move of government offices from Srinagar to Jammu, a police spokesman said.

“All officers were directed to maintain the highest level of alertness and coordination among themselves and also to share the intelligence-related information directly bearing to the opening of Darbar Move in real time basis to foil the nefarious designs of anti-national elements,” he said.

The official said the meeting also discussed the security arrangements for the forthcoming panchayat elections, scheduled to be held in nine phases in November-December.

The IG emphasized on foolproof security arrangements at the Civil Secretariat, the Raj Bhawan Jammu and other vital installations and VVIP residences, he said.

The spokesperson said Kumar also stressed that vulnerable points be identified and adequate deployment made to prevent any untoward incident.
