SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 1: A delegation of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, led by its President B.S. Slathia, called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today and on behalf of the Association extended warm greetings to Malik on his appointment as Governor of J&K.

The delegation appreciated Governor’s decision of holding long pending elections to the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats.

The delegation requested Governor for increasing number of Judges in the Subordinate and Higher Judiciary, formulating suitable Insurance and Pension schemes for lawyers, sanctioning stipend to new entrants in the profession, provision of a Housing colony/Flats and a recreational complex for lawyers,  declaring Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birthday on 23rd September as State Holiday, release of funds for incomplete Multi-tier Parking Project in the High Court Complex at Jammu and Primary Health Centre inaugurated in the years 2005 and 2012 respectively.

The delegation apprised the Governor about the Association’s views regarding the equitable economic, social and political development of all the three regions of the State; government patronage to  languages spoken in Jammu province including Dogri, Punjabi, Hindi, Gojri and Pahari and expressed concern about illegal settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshi migrants in the State.

Governor assured due consideration of all issues raised by the delegation and urged them to continue to work for welfare of the people of the State.
