Ganderbal Sep 28: Wildlife department on Friday rescued a bear from an irrigation reservoir at Gutlibagh area here.
According to witnesses, a bear got stuck in the water reservoir today following which the Wild Life Department started a rescue operation to take out the wild animal from the reservoir.
Ranger Wildlife Department, Sheikh Mohammad Maqbool, said “Swift action of our employees saved the bear from drowning to death. We first tranquilised the bear with the support of local police and then started the rescue operation.”
He further said that they safely rescued the bear after an hour-long operation. “The bear was later released into Sonamarg forests.”
Pertinently, Man vs. Wild conflict is on considerable rise in Ganderbal. Last week two local resident of Watlar Ganderbal were mauled by a bear.
