Non-local Beacon labourer killed in Army fire
Kupwara: A non-local labourer was allegedly killed in an Army ambush in Doninar village of Kralpora in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district late last night.
Official sources said that the slain man was challenged while walking near the Army camp but he didn’t respond to frequent alerts of soldiers of Army’s 3 JAK LI. The man was shot dead.
Sources identified the slain as Umesh of Tamil Nadu who has been working with Beacon in the area.
A police officer confirmed the incident and said that they are investigating the incident.
“The body has been handed over to the concerned police station for identification and other legal necessary formalities,” he said.
The officer said that a case has been registered and investigations into the matter have been initiated.
Army’s Srinagar based defense spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that the details with regard to the incident are being ascertained.
