Poonch, Sep 26: Two women drowned to death while another was injured in Khanetar village of Poonch district on Wednesday.

Reports said that a woman who was grazing cattle in Khanetar village of the district drowned in a river around 4:10 pm.

They said the other two women also drowned while trying to rescue her.

An official said a rescue operation was launched as soon as they received the information about the incident.

“The bodies of three women were later retrieved from the river and one of them was found alive. She was shifted to a hospital for treatment,” said the official.

He identified the deceased as Sonia (20), wife of Muhammad Akram, and Shazia Akhtar (21), wife of Sajad Ahmad – both residents of Noona Bandi village.

The woman who was rescued alive was identified as Babli, daughter of Mohammad Sadeeq (aged 21/22 years).
