Islamia Cricket Club defends the total of 114; bundle out opponents for 36 runs

Anantnag, September 07: Low totals always produce best matches as there is no space for complacency and same happened in Mirza Ghalib T20 cricket tournament being held at Government Degree College Boys, Anantnag.

Islamia Cricket Club created a record on Friday by defending a total of 114 runs against Red Rose Cricket Club while defeating them with a huge margin of 78 runs.

Batting first, Islamia CC was bundled out for paltry 113 runs but the team excelled with the bowling and bowled out Red Rose CC for 36 runs.

Khalid with 23 runs, Imran 22 and Shahnawaz 20 runs were the leading scorers for Islamia CC.

While chasing the target of 114 runs, Red Rose CC plummeted to just 36 runs as the bowlers of Islamia CC destroyed the batting order of the team.

Islamia CC did its job in just 12 overs of the game when they departed all the batsmen of Red Rose CC to the pavilion and won the match by 78 runs.

Irshad Ahmad with 8 runs was the highest scorer for his team, Red Rose CC, while as no other batsmen of the said team entered into double figures.

Shahnawaz of Islamia CC  bowled 4 overs while giving away only 9 runs and bagged 2 wickets and bowled 2 maiden overs. He also scored 20 runs unbeaten as he was given a well-deserved man of the match award.
