Srinagar, Sep 05: Hurriyat-M chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said the details of the rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl in Uri were “shocking and unbelievable”.
“(I am) extremely shocked at the details of the horrific rape and murder of a minor girl child by her family members in Uri,” Mirwaiz said in a tweet.
He said the “heartlessness and moral turpitude” shown by the perpetrators of this crime is “unbelievable” and deeply saddening.
“It calls for severe punishment to the accused,” he added.
On Tuesday, police had claimed that the missing minor girl whose body was recovered past Sunday had been gang raped by her step-brother and his three other accomplices at the instance of her step-mother before being murdered in a brutal manner.
