SRINAGAR, AUGUST 13: Commissioner Secretary Forest, Environment & Ecology, Saurabh Bhagat today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC).

The meeting was attended by Director Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing (Nodal Officer, State Climate Change Cell), Om Prakash Sharma, representatives from Rural Development & Panchayats, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Tourism, Health & Medical Education, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Power Development, Forest, and Disaster Management Departments besides Coordinator, State Climate Change Centre-JK.

The Commissioner Secretary, who is also CEO Climate Change Centre enquired about the ongoing work linked to the actions proposed in the SAPCC so that the synchronization between climate actions and updating of SAPCC can be ensured.

The funding mechanism of various climate change related projects was also discussed threadbare. He asked the line departments to submit the project concept notes and DPRs for funding to different agencies involved in Climate Financing.

The meeting was also informed about the workshop on Spring-shed management being conducted jointly by NITI Aayog, Ministry of Science & Technology, ACWADAM and SDC at Srinagar on August 30, 2018.

The Commissioner Secretary stressed upon the capacity building requirements for nodal officers from line departments implementing SAPCC.

He impressed upon the executing agency to keep the Climate Change Cell appraised and updated about the progress of project at all stages.
