President Traders Federation  Baramulla Mohammad Ashraf Ganai said that the protest was against “attempts to dilute the special status of the state and Kashmiri would not shy away from “shedding their blood” to protect the same.

During the sit-in protest they held placards that read “dismiss PIL on Article 35A” and “Assault on Article 35A is an attack on our existence.

During the peaceful protest, demonstrating speakers warned Govt of India saying that situation will take an ugly turn in Kashmir, in case the decision goes against the interests of people of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in parts of the northern region of Kashmir.

The shutdown affected normal life as coaching centres, offices and petrol pumps are closed, while there is also thin traffic on the roads.
