Lions Pinjura claims Batpora cricket tournament title

Shopian, July 21: In the final of cricket tournament being played at Batpora Sports Stadium Shopian, Lions Pinjura faced Qayoom Cricket Club (Qayoom CC).

Lions Pinjura emerged as the champions of the tournament by defeating their rival, Qayoom CC, with 80 Runs.

After winning the toss, Lions Pinjura elected to bat first and set a target of 152 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 29.3 overs.

Rashid Dar of Lions Pinjura played a great knock of 65 runs; he was assisted by Saboor-Ul-Haq who scored 28 runs.

While chasing the target of 152 runs, Qayoom CC could not stand against the brilliant bowling of Lions Pinjura and were bundled out at a paltry 72 runs after facing 15.3 overs.

Basharat Wani with 25 runs and Manzoor Ahmad with 16 Runs were the top scorers of Qayoom CC and Shakoor Ahmad took 5 wickets for his team.

Saleem Mir of Lions Pinjura was awarded Man of the match for his outstanding bowling in the match who scalped 5 Wickets.

Man of the Series was awarded to Saleem Mir of Lions Pinjura who scored 218 runs throughout the tournament and also took 11 wickets, while as best batsman of the tournament award was given to Aadil Ayoub for his 153 runs and 10 wickets and best bowler of the tournament award was received by Suhail Khurshid for taking 18 wickets.

ADC Shopian Parvaz Sajid, Manager Sports Council, Shopian, Raja Waheed, and Chief selector Javid Ahmad Mir were the chief guests at the final match ceremony who distributed trophies among both the teams.

The cricket tournament at Batpora Sports Stadium Shopian under the patronage of JKCA came to an end with this final match. A total number of 48 Matches were played in the Tournament.
