4.0 magnitude earthquake jolts parts of Kashmir Valley
Srinagar, June 14: An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale jolted some parts of Kashmir Valley on Thursday early morning.
There was, however, no loss of life or damage to property.
“An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale occurred at 6:12 am today” Director disaster management, Aamir Ali said.
“The epicentre of the earthquake was in Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand at a depth of 10 km,” he said.
“The coordinates of this earthquake are latitude 30.8 degrees north and longitude 78.2 degrees east,” added the official.
The earthquake was however, not felt in most parts of J&K, he said.
Kashmir Valley is vulnerable to earthquakes as it is situated in a highly sensitive seismological region.
