Srinagar: Police arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesperson informed Friday.
He said at a checkpoint at Hillow crossing, police intercepted and later arrested one Javaid Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Arwani Bijbehara, after 265 grams of contraband brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession.
A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Imamsahib and investigation taken up, police said.
