Thousands of devotees attend annual urs at Baba Nagri

Kangan: The 123rd Urs of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA) concluded on Friday here at Baba Nagri Wangath in Kangan.

The Urs is observed in the first fortnight of June every year. Thousands of devotees from and within and outside the state, including those from Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK), thronged the two-day religious event.

Hundreds of vehicles carrying Baba Ji’s followers  from Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Jammu, Udhampur, Karnah, Baramulla, Shopian, Kulgam, Srinagar, Kupwara and other parts had reached Baba Nagri to participate in the annual Urs.

According to the trustees of Hazrat Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani shrine, the two-day Urs commenced on Thursday and night-long prayers were held.

On the concluding day of the Urs on June 8, special prayers were offered.

Renowned religious personality Mian Bashir Ahmad who is the father of MLA Kangan Mian Altaf, and various Islamic scholars and religious personalities threw light on the life and teachings of Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA).

Adequate accommodation and food arrangements  were made for the devotees.
