Tassaduq Mufti reviews waste management scenario in Poonch district

POONCH, JUNE 03: Minister for Tourism, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti today convened a meeting of officers and experts to take stock of Solid Waste Management scenario in Poonch district.

District Development Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Aijaz, Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC Dr. Zafar Iqbal and various other officers of the district administration were present in the meeting.

Dr. Zafar Iqbal presented a comprehensive Power Point Presentation regarding Solid Liquid Waste Management.

It was given out in the meeting that state Government has already set up a pilot project on the pattern of Tamil Nadu for Solid Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) in Chaklala, Bishnah successfully, and this can be replicated in other villages at Panchayat level as well.

He was informed that on the same pattern Solid Liquid Waste Management program will be soon initiated in the district and various spots have already been identified for initiation of the project.

The Minister who is on 4-day tour to the district Poonch lauded the initiatives being taken by the district administration for Solid and Liquid Waste Management.

Tassaduq stressed for promoting such initiative on larger scale, besides adopting the same model across the state to dispose waste in a manner by adopting proper scientific producers.

Taking a serious note on hospital waste management, the Minister asked the concerned for submitting a report regarding the waste segregation and management, besides conducting a proper research and survey to tackle the sanitation issues.
