Srinagar/Jammu, Jun 01: Vigilance Organization Kashmir on Friday presented charge-sheet against Farooq Ahmad Shah, the then Custodian Officer Trade Facilitation Centre Salamabad Uri, in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla.

A corruption case was registered against Shah on the basis of a written complaint lodged by one Naseer Ahmad Dar, a businessman dealing in cross-LoC trade

The businessman had alleged that Shah as the Custodian at Trade Facilitation Centre had unnecessarily detained his six load-carrier trucks and demanded bribe of Rs 50,000. The officer besides not allowing his trucks to cross the LoC had also threatened to cancel his registration, a Vigilance spokesperson said.

He said subsequently Vigilance sleuths had laid a trap and caught Shah red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant on January 04, 2017, spokesperson informed.

In a separate case a charge-sheet was also presented one Gulzar Ahmad  Lone, son of Ghulam  Mohammad Lone of Nadihal Bandipora, spokesperson informed.

He said Gulzar Ahmad  Lone, the then Sr. Assistant in the office of Joint  Director Animal  Husbandry Department  Shalteng Srinagar had demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 5000 from one Niyaz Shafi Rather of Bonapora Nowgam Srinagar  as bribe for release of CDR draft of Rs 50,000  which the complainant has deposited as security  against  the supply of 30 KVA Servo Stabilizers in the laboratory of Animal Husbandry department  at Ranbirbagh Ganderbal.

Meanwhile, State Vigilance Organization has registered a formal case against  several revenue department and police officers for their alleged complicity in grabbing state land.

According to a Vigilance spokesperson, the case was registered against Tarsem Lal, then Tehsildar Kalakote; Ajaz Ahmed Malik, then Patwari Halqa Teryath, and then Inspector(s) Balkrishan Sharma (now DySP) and his wife Oma Devi.

He said the case was registered against them on the basis of enquiries conducted into a complaint lodged in the Vigilance Organization against Inspector Balkrishan Sharma that he, by misusing his official position, and in connivance and criminal conspiracy with revenue officers/officials, has managed illegal transfer of the State land falling under Khasra no 807 of village Keri Teryath in the name of his wife Oma Devi in.
