Srinagar, Jun 01: Militants appeared in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday night and denied their hand in the recent civilian killings in the area.

Local sources said that few militants, including a local Saleem Parrey, appeared in the town and addressed a gathering there after late-night prayers.

Denying their involvement in the recent civilian killings in the area, the militants asked people to remain alert and nab the “unknown gunmen” who, they said, were killing in the name of militants.

On May 16, four masked men entered the house of Hilal Ahmad Parray in Parray Mohalla and kidnapped him. His body was recovered next morning from an orchard near his house.

Eight days later, on May 24, gunmen barged inside the house of Mohammad Yaqoob Wagay in Gund Prang village of Hajin and put him to death in front of his wife and seven-year-old son.
