JKLF activists stage protest, detained

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists today took out a protest march from Budshah Chowk  but where stopped by the police, a JKLF spokesman said.

The spokesman in a statement issued here said that the party activists tried to march towards Lal Chowk by were stopped by the police.

Some of the activists were detained and taken to police station Kothibagh, the spokesman said, adding, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik is already in police custody from 17th May 2018.

The spokesman said that the protest was held according to JRL program which had called for a complete shutdown across the valley and a protest sit-in at Lal chowk against killing spree, arrests, and other gross human rights violations on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.

Meanwhile, JKLF chairman has paid glowing tributes to Ishfaq Majeed Wani who embraced martyrdom on third day of Ramazan in 1990, the spokesman said.
