Man held for fraud at ATM

Srinagar, May 10: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested fraudster in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A police spokesperson said a complaint was received by Achabal police station from one Habibullah Teli, saying that he was duped with Rs 36000 by a person on pretext of helping him withdraw money from ATM in Shangas area.

Spokesman said the CCTV footage of the ATM was obtained and put to analysis.

“While scrutinizing the footage, the investigation officer observed that the cheater is well aware about the location and spatial angles of capture of CCTV cameras installed and has tactically concealed his face with the help of cap. He had left no scope for the cameras to grab the picture of his face as such avoiding his detection in the video grabs,” said the spokesperson.

Police said frames from video were further analysed and suspects were called up for investigation and subsequently one person — Imran Ahmad Sheikh of Hardu-Schen Dialgam — was found involved in the crime.

Police said earlier also Sheikh was involved in many other cases as well. Police appealed the general public to be careful and not share their bank details with anyone.
