KISHTWAR APRIL 19:  Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Jammu conducted Financial Literacy cum Awareness Programme for youth under its periodic programme called Financial Literacy and Awareness Programmes (FLAP), here today.

Deputy Commissioner, A.S.Rana, was the chief guest on the occasion.

General Manager, RBI, Jammu, A.K.Mattu, Zonal Head, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, K.A. Fazili and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

During the programme, General Manager, explained various schemes announced by Government of India, for the overall economic development and prosperity of the people and removal of economic disparities between different regions and classes of people. He also explained various functions of RBI being the sole authority for note issue, banker to banks and Central and State governments, management of public debt, custodian of foreign exchange reserves of the country.

Deputy Commissioner in his address to the participants appreciated the efforts of the RBI in making an outreach to the difficult areas of the state particularly Kishtwar district and urged the students to take advantage of the information being disseminated by the RBI officers.

During the programme, various modes of digital payment and different do’s and don’ts to be observed while undertaking digital transactions were explained alongwith complaint redressal system including Banking Ombudsman Scheme, information relating to housing loans, KCCs, Education loans, MSME financing and Mudra Loans.

Students were also asked to stay away from the lure of fake and fictitious offers, acceptance of deposits by unincorporated entities.

A financial quiz programme was also organized for the students and prizes were given away to the winners.
