Several delegations call on Javaid Mustafa Mir, highlight demands

JAMMU, APRIL 18: Several delegations, including Youth All India Kashmir Samaj (YAIKS) and All Kashmiri Muslim Migrants Committee (AKMMC) Jammu, today met Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir here and sought his intervention in fulfilling their various demands.

The YAIKS delegation sought the Minister`s intervention in filling up 6,000 posts in government departments reserved for Kashmiri Migrants as per the Prime Minister’s Employment Package. The delegation also sought reservation of two to four per cent in central government jobs and educational institutes for Kashmiri Migrants. They also demanded that the youth who have crossed the upper age limit for getting Government jobs should be considered for one-time compensation under PM`s rehabilitation scheme.

All Kashmiri Muslim Migrants Committee (AKMMC) Jammu also submitted a memorandum of their demands to the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister demanding issuance of the PRCs in favour of kids or dependent souls. Their other demands included issuance of migrant certificates required in favor of children of Muslim migrants, inclusion of names in ration cards from the age of 4 to 10 years besides getting one-time relaxation for correction of names, allotment of family quarters by housing department or allotment of 5 marla land for each family, till then HRA be issued to such migrants and requested to enhance the relief and ration to Rs 25000 per month.

They also called for better Medical and Educational facilities besides ST/RBA certificate and Government jobs for the registered migrants.

“The state government is committed to facilitate an early return of migrants to the valley with dignity and honour,” Javaid Mustafa Mir said while interacting with the delegations and further added that as a confidence building measure these posts were created and asked the concerned to make concerted efforts for early selection of eligible migrant youths so that they can serve in different departments in the valley.

He said that Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has been directed for arranging accommodation of migrant employees keeping their security in view.

Javaid Mir said that directions were passed to identify the old and worn out structures of the migrants in every District so that requisite steps are taken to protect these heritage buildings besides preserving the distinct Kashmiri culture for posterity.
