RAMBAN, APRIL 15: As part of nationwide campaign to celebrate birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar as “Social Justice Day”, Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh today launched Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in the district Ramban being organized by the district administration across the district.

MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai, SSP, Ramban Mohan Lal, Chairman, JAKFED, Munish Sharma and other senior officers of the district administration were present on the occasion.

The Minister also took stock of developmental activities in the district.

While addressing a gathering at Ukhral, the Minister said that his visit is a part of the ongoing nationwide Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and the extension of the idea of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to ensure equitable development of the nation as a mark of tribute and gratitude to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

He said that the present government under the leadership of Narendra Modi has given true and deserving tribute and respect to Dr Ambedkar.

Stating that area is one of the most backward areas, Dr Jitendra said he has been working full time for the development of such areas in J&K as well as in North Eastern States. He said that out of the total amount of Rs 2400 crore sanctioned for construction of the roads under PMGSY in state, major part of the funds has been earmarked for Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts.

Dr Singh enumerated several initiatives and achievements taken up by the government for the development of state and particularly district Ramban being most backward and topographically tough.

He further said that development is a continuous process and the effect of such major projects would be visible after taking due course of time. He urged the youth to participate in building the nation stronger as youth represent the country and country always belong to young people who have right to decide everything. Youth should participate in government decisions, policy making, taking country to the level of developed nations, he added.

The people of the area demanded setting up of Degree College at Ukhral.
