Srinagar, April 01: Body of a man was fished out from the Kishen Ganga Hydroelectric Project Dam in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district two days after he had drowned in the dam.

The body of Mushtaq Ahmed of Wampora, Gurez was fished out from the Kishen Ganga Hydroelectric Project Dam late Saturday evening by the MARCOS.

An official of the MARCOS told GNS that the local youth was reported to be missing from a site near the Dam since March. The forces along with the villagers made efforts to search and locate the missing youth.

“However, after a strenuous search of the area, it was suspected that the youth might have fallen into the deep Dam at Nayal Village, Gurez”.

The help of Marine Commandos stationed at Watlab was sought to undertake diving in the Dam. A team of MARCOS under the HQ 5 Sector was tasked to carry out the diving operation.

The team was airlifted from Bandipore and deployed to undertake an extensive search in the cold water conditions.

The team successfully flushed out the body after the extensive diving operation. The recovery of the body brought relief to the bereaved family and the villagers, who could carry out the last rites of the youth, the official sai
