Army pays tributes to killed soldier

Srinagar: Army today paid tributes to Late Gunner Kuldeep Singh who was killed in a road accident while performing highway protection duties on Monday in Pulwama District.

A defense spokesman said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Maj Gen SK Sharma, Chief of Staff, Chinar Corps and all ranks, paid homage to the soldier on behalf of a proud nation.

Late Gnr Kuldeep Singh was part of a road clearance team and sustained injuries when a private truck veered off the road and collided with the Army vehicle coming from the opposite direction in Chackot area of Awantipora in Pulwama district. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The young soldier was only 21 years in age and had joined the Army in 2015, the spokesman.

The mortal remains were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours, added the spokesman.
