Thousands attend ‘Jinaza’ of  Begum Akka Mama

Education Minister, NKJA and BWJA extend condolences

Tangmarg, Feb 27:  Thousands of people today attended the Nimaz-e-Jinaza of  Gulmarg  MLA’s mother at her ancestral village, Chandilora in Tangmarg.

She passed away yesterday at a Delhi hospital due to massive cardiac arrest and her mortal remains were flown to Srinagar today. She was laid to rest around 2.45 at her ancestral graveyard.

Thousands of people from different walks of life and from almost all corners of Kashmir Valley offered her Nimaz-e-Jinazah that was held in the lawns of Jamia Masjid, Chandilora.

Earlier, Works Minister, Naeem Akhtar and MoS Forests, Zahoor Ahmad Mir and NC additional general secretary, Dr Mustafa Kamal visited her residence and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

For the whole day, people from all communities, continued pouring in to condole the demise and pray for the departed soul.

The deceased was widow of renowned social figure of the area, late Muhammad Akbar Wani, popularly known as Akka Mama.

She was mother of MLA Gulmarg, Muhammad Abass Wani and also of Shabir Ahmad Wani (Assistant Director, Youth Services and Sports), Ghulam Jeelani Wani (Managing Editor, Kashmir Images) and Shamim Ahmad, a renowned hotelier.

Meanwhile, Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of Saida Begum, wife of Muhammad Akbar Wani alias Aka Maam, and mother of Mohammad Abbas Wani, MLA Gulmarg.

In his condolence message, Bukhari termed the deceased as a very gentle and pious woman who was known for her philanthropy.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Minister prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. “I am deeply saddened to hear this loss. May her soul rest in peace,” he said.

Offering his condolences to the bereaved family, particularly her sons Mohammad Abbas Wani, Shabir Ahmad Wani, Ghulam Jeelani Wani and Shamim Ahmad Wani, Bukhari said that memories of her wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.

In the meantime, on the sad demise of mother of Managing Editor, Kashmir Images, Ghulam Jeelani Wani, North Kashmir Journalists Association and Baramulla Working Journalists Association have expressed condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family.

Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) and North Kashmir Journalists Association (NKJA) delegations visited the bereaved family at Chandilora Tangmarg, attended funeral prayers and held condolence meetings to express solidarity with the bereaved family.
