Second book entitled “Women, Gender And Society In India” takes a fresh look at the issues faced by the women in J&K. Not only the gender gap in accessing education, health and economic and political participation remains very wide in the state, the gap between rural and urban population in respect of economic opportunities and access to social services also continues to exist. The book raises issues of interest to policy makers, practitioners and scholars regarding women’s issues in Jammu and Kashmir.

The chief minister appreciated the efforts of Dr Kavita Suri in highlighting women issues through her writings. Both the members also discussed women issues with the CM.
