Artisans ambassadors of JK’s treasured cultural heritage: DC Srinagar
SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 06: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah today said artisans are ambassadors of State’s treasured cultural heritage.
He made these remarks while speaking at a daylong awareness camp which was organized by Handicrafts Department.
On the occasion, DC said that Handicraft of Kashmir has made its footprints globally and it is a collective responsibility to preserve centuries old art and Culture which is also the identity our ethnic society.
DC also discussed with artisans about the latest trends and innovations which they had incorporated in their designs in Shawls, Paper Machie, carpets etc.
During the meeting, it was informed the designs of new handicraft products would be forwarded to the Ministry of Textiles for appropriate marketing facilities for artisans.
DC was informed that the Department of Handicrafts had recently developed a cost-effective portable & Mobile Carpet Loom for artisans. He lauded Department of Handicrafts for designing a cost-effective portable & Mobile Carpet Loom.
Assistant Director Handicrafts Srinagar, Chief Designer SOD, Publicity & Exhibition officer Handicrafts Department and bank officers representing various banks were also present on the occasion.
