DPEO Ganderbal reviews preparedness for Panchayat elections

GANDEBAL, FEBRUARY 14:  District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today reviewed the preparedness ahead of Panchayat election in vacant Panch and Sarpanch seats of the district at a meeting of district & Sectoral officers.

The meeting was attended by ADC, Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, and Ganderbal, DPO, BDOs and other concerned officers.

During the meeting detailed discussions were held on   requirement of Returning and Assistant Returning Officers as per topography of the area, Map of Block and Panchayat indicating the area of RO & Polling stations, list of polling stations with polling locations, Identification of zones and sectors, proposal for distribution of election material to poll parties, identification of strong room for deposition of used material after election, collections centre besides communication and security plan.

During the meeting, the BDOs were asked to verify all the polling stations where polling will be held for vacant seats besides ensuring availability of assured basic minimum facilities at polling stations.

It was informed that out of 118 Panchayat Halqas 685 Panch and 41 Sarpanch seats are vacant in the district.

The DEO directed the officials to setup polling stations in the vicinity of the populated area without advantage or disadvantage to any community.
