FC Revenue asks for expediting construction of Registrar offices

JAMMU, JANUARY 31: Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr Pawan Kotwal, today asked District Development Commissioners to expedite the construction of Registrar and Sub-Registrar offices, for which the funds have already been made available.

The FC was chairing a meeting to review the functioning of the Revenue Department in districts and progress made in creation of the infrastructure for newly established office of Registrar and Sub-Registrars.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sushma Chauhan; Additional Inspector General of Registration Jammu, Rashpal Singh; Registrars of Udhampur, Kathua and Samba-Satish Kumar Sharma, Suresh Chander Sharma and Dr. Subhash Chander, while all other Deputy Commissioners of J&K UT, along with ADCs attended the meeting through video conferencing.

Dr. Kotwal directed all the DCs to design the Registrar and Sub-Registrar offices with the provision for all facilities and modern record rooms, so that officials do not face any difficulty in the process of registration of documents of the people. He also asked them to organize training programmes for capacity building of the revenue staff.

The FC asked the DCs to utilize the funds judiciously and maintain transparency in the expenditure.

He also asked the concerned to study the Registration Act carefully to imbibe the rules and regulation as also scrutinize the documents thoroughly, while conducting registrations.
