CEO SMVD Shrine Board, others call on Lt Governor

Jammu, January 30: Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The CEO briefed the Lt Governor about the functioning of the Shrine Board and informed him about the present status of the Board’s various flagship projects in Katra and the Shrine area. He further briefed the Lt Governor about several arrangements being put in place to augment the existing facilities for the pilgrims and the service providers.

The Lt Governor advised the CEO to ensure that all the projects be completed as per the envisaged timelines for largely facilitating the pilgrims.

In another meeting, Shri Amarnath Barfani Langers Organization called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

The delegation led  by its President Vijay Thakur comprising of its members-Rajan Gupta, Amar Goyal, Vijay Mehra, Harsh Rishi, Pankaj Soni and  Tirlok  Oberoi sough Lt Governor’s intervention in various issues pertaining to the Pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and the Bhandaras organizations serving during the holy Yatra including reduction in the duration of the Yatra period, security and safety of Sewadars, night shelters to pilgrims, cloak rooms at higher altitude, , storage of bhandara materials, increase in registration counters, simplification of several procedures etc. They also extended their full cooperation towards maintaining clean environment enroute.

The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues projected by the members of the delegation and assured them of necessary measures for providing requisite facilities for the pilgrims and service providers for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) led by its President Gurdev Singh projected the demands related to the settlement of Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 from PoJK and also raised several welfare issues of the DPs.

Meanwhile, Shoaib Nabi Lone, ex-MLA called on the Lt Governor and apprised him about various issues of public importance of Sangrama constituency of Baramulla including strengthening of road network, power supply, education and health facilities.

The Lt Governor observed that the present Government is making committed efforts to resolve the grievances of the people of J&K, besides fulfilling their developmental aspirations. He assured the delegations and the former Legislator to review the genuine issues and demands projected by them for their early redressal and urged them to continue working towards promoting public welfare.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today released a book titled “Blackwoods” by Sehr Sannah Kapur.

The young author is an alumnus of APS Noida and is currently perusing Law from O.P Jindal Global University Sonipat.

The Lt Governor observed that the creativity played a major role in teaching us to think intensively and to think critically. He advised the youth to keep their window of creativity open as creative endeavour bring fresh innovation and can go a long way in providing the young generation a platform to express their talents and views.

The Lt Governor appreciated the author for coming out with a piece of creative art in such a young age and wished her success in her future endeavours.
