Police busts gang of burglars in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, July 30: Residents of Safapora area in district Ganderbal heaved a sigh of relief as a gang of burglars was busted by police on Tuesday.

According to a police statement, police station Safapora on Sunday received a complaint about theft of a vehicle. An FIR was registered and team was constituted to investigate the burglary case.

“The investigation team was head by SHO Safapora Maseer Asgar and the team was supervised by DySP Ganderbal Muhammad Shafi,” reads the statement.

A police official said during the investigation a suspect was detained. He is a resident of Asham Bandipora. He admitted to have committed the theft cases and revealed names of his accomplices.

“3 more members were arrested and 2 are still at large,” he said

“After questioning the accused, they confessed to have stolen many vehicle, cash and mobile phones. Police later recovered the stolen property,” the official added.

Police said that more recovery of stolen property is expected.

Speaking to Kashmir Images SHO Safapora, Maseer Asgar, said: “The gang was operative in many areas of Ganderbal, Bandipora and Srinagar. We are started further investigation into the case.”
