Srinagar, July 26: Academic Arrangements of various colleges of the valley today hit streets to press for their demands including relevant job policy, enhancement in monthly salary and end to reapplying process.

Shouting slogans like” justice delayed is justice denied, fulfill our demands” scores of the Academic Arrangements under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir College Contractual Teachers Association (AJKCCTA) holding placards in their hands which read “stop further exploitation, implement job policy” assembled at Lal Chowk here and staged demos to highlight their issues.

The protesting teachers alleged that the government has never taken their issues seriously thus forcing them to hit the roads every now and then.

They demanded that government should frame a firm job policy for them and enhance their monthly salary as per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.

“If government can regularize ReTs and ReZs whose proportion is nearly 60 to 70,000, why step motherly treatment is being meted out to us. Neither does the government devise any job policy nor our salary is being increased,” protesters said.

They appealed the Governor administration to look into the problems they have been facing and impress upon higher-ups sitting at the helm to fulfill their demands at earliest.

Adil Ahmad a protesting Academic Arrangement said that it makes them to feel embarrassed when they are being asked to reapply for the same post they serve at their respective workplaces repeatedly.

“We demand that our issues must be resolved at earliest as the delay on the part of the government not only violates UGC guidelines but also Supreme Court orders,” he added.
