Chairman DLSA holds meeting regarding Plantation drive

JAMMU, JULY 17: A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu, Vinod Chatterji Koul, regarding Plantation drive launched by District Legal Services Authority, Jammu in association with school, colleges as well as Senior Citizens from Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu for the ongoing Monsoon season.

Naushad Ahmed Khan, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Jammu, Ram Lal Angral, Executive Manager, J&K Bank, Jammu, Sunil Mishri, Project Director, Bagh-e-Bahu, Abhijeet Joshi, DFO Social Forestry, Jammu, Sunil Singh, DFO, Urban Jammu, Shokat Mahmood Malik, Joint Director, Tourism, Jammu, and Balvir Sudan, DEPO were present in the meeting.

The meeting has been convened in compliance to the directions of the Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, regarding ensuring collaborative efforts with various Government Departments in carrying forward this ambitious plantation drive.

It was decided in the meeting that the Department of Social Forestry and Urban Forestry Jammu, shall provide sapling of mixed plants to District Legal Services Authority Jammu which shall he further planted under the overall supervision of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, in association with schools, colleges, students, senior citizens and Para Legal Volunteers in the premises of High Court of J&K, District Court Jammu, Munsiff Courts at R.S. Pura, Bishnah and Akhnoor, in assistance with the field staff of Urban and Social Forestry, Jammu.

Besides, District Legal Services Authority, Jammu in collaboration with Education department shall organize excursions for students of various schools where the students shall plant the saplings provided by the department of Social Forestry and Urban Forestry, under the supervision of their faculty members at the places identified by the Tehsildars under whose jurisdiction these picnic spots falls. The department of Tourism shall arrange transportation for carrying the students and faculty members to and fro from their respective schools to the picnic spots. Besides, Jammu & Kashmir Bank shall be providing financial support in providing refreshments to the students and other members accompanying the excursion.
