Protesting lecturers alleged that government despite assurances to regularize them has so far done nothing in this direction thus making educated teachers to suffer.

They said the government at the time of their appointment in 2003 had promised them that they would be regularized after five years, however 16 years on no concrete step has been taken by the government with regards to their confirmation.

Protesters sought Governor Satyapal Malik’s intervention to address their genuine grievances that state authorities have been neglecting over the years.

“We were engaged as lecturers in different higher secondary schools in the year 2003. Government at the time of appointment promised us that we will be regularized after five years but it has been sixteen years no firm steps were taken for our regularization,” said Arun Bakshi  , President JKCLF.

He said those who were appointed five years after their appointment as lecturers were regularized way back while they have been hitting streets ever since they joined.

“We appeal the Governor to kindly address our issue of regularization on priority. We cannot come to Srinagar every now and then and hold protest being natives of far flung areas of the valley. Our demand is genuine and we appeal the present dispensation to consider same on priority,” said Bakshi.
